About

I'm an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics Engineering (DEI) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), and a researcher at the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra (CISUC).

At the University of Coimbra, I teach Internet Technology⇗, Interactive Media Design⇗, Interface Arquitecture⇗, and Project 1 - Web Identity⇗

I'm also a Visiting Academic at the University of Saint Joseph, Macau, where I teach the Virtual Reality Environments⇗ course of the Design Master Programme.

I have a PhD from the University of Minho (UM) where I worked at the Ubicomp group on interactive public display systems, an MSc in Mobile Systems also from the UM, and a Licenciatura from the Engineering Faculty of the University of Porto.

I'm also collaborator at the Research Center for Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR) of the School of Arts - Porto, and former editor of the Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts until 2018.

I enjoy programming, especially for new interactive experiences, and I have developed several Processing libraries for interfacing with new input devices. I have also collaborated with various artists in the development of interactive art installations. See my projects page for details.

My research interests include Human-Computer Interaction, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Tangible User Interfaces, Interaction Techniques, Interaction Design.
